- TOOWOOMBA READY TOWN HAS UNIQUE DISTINCTION

Honored for the third time by a royal visit, Toowoomba is leaving no stone unturned to make its reception one worthy of the visitor.

The reception committee, soldiers, police, and everyone participating in the welcome have been busy during the week preparing for the occasion.

Every day numbers of mounted police have been training their mounts around the streets, while commencing on Friday the local Fire Brigade has been busy placing hundreds of steamers of flags of almost every nation across the streets through with the Duke will travel.

At the railway station green foliage has been placed around the posts in convenient places.

Toowoomba has something of a record so far as Royal visits are concerned, as it is the only country centre in Queensland which has been favored with three Royal visits.

There are very few country centres in the southern States which can claim this distinction. Had His Majesty come to Toowoomba when, as Duke of York he visited Australia for the opening of Federation, the city would have been able to share the record of the State capitals.
