WALK-INS WELCOME
Get vaccinated this weekend without an appointment
HEALTH authorities are hoping to vaccinate as many people as possible this weekend as doors open to walk-ins for the newly launched Clifford Gardens superclinic.
The clinic has already vaccinated more than 1600 residents since Monday, but those who have yet to roll up their sleeves are being urged to get it done over the next 48 hours.
Almost 40 per cent of Toowoomba’s population aged over 15 are fully vaccinated, but we’ve still got work to do.
Medical authorities hope that statistic will get a healthy boost during the “super Pfizer weekend”.
A MASS statewide effort to vaccinate as many Queenslanders as possible this weekend is under way, and a newlyopened Toowoomba clinic is hoped to bolster those efforts.
As of September 13, 39 per cent of the Toowoomba population aged over the age of 15 were fully vaccinated.
That number is hoped to skyrocket this weekend following Queensland Health’s announcement that walk-ins will be welcome at community vaccination centres all over Queensland.
The Clifford Gardens vaccine hub will open its doors to walk-ins all weekend in order to boost vaccine numbers in the Garden City.
A Darling Downs spokeswoman said the clinic would be open on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 4pm and would continue seven days a week.
“For this weekend’s walk-in clinic, we will provide vaccines to as many people as we can accommodate,” she said.
“If numbers increase to a level where wait times are too long, we will have staff available to book people in for an appointment at the earliest date available.”
In its first two days, the clinic vaccinated more than 1000 Toowoomba residents.
The spokesperson said now, after four days, more than 1600 doses had been distributed.
“The clinic is open to all people aged 12 and over,” the spokesperson said.
“From Monday, September 20 the clinic will be open seven-days-a-week and will be accommodating booked appointments.
“Please ensure you bring a pen and your Medicare card.”
The best way to get a vaccination as soon as possible at the new clinic at Clifford Gardens is to pre-register.
