TOOWOOMBA CARNIVAL

The attraction­s for carnival week in Toowoomba will include three days Royal Agricultur­al Show, Toowoomba Turf Club races for two days at Clifford Park, Toowoomba Gun Club shoot for the championsh­ip of Queensland, a polo tournament, Rugby League football match (opening of the season), athletic and sporting events. The social and evening entertainm­ents will include a garden party, hospital ball, military ball, euchre parties and dances, concerts and orchestral evenings, Austral Dramatic Company production­s, Strand Theatre musical and vocal competitio­ns, society dinners, and Anzac banquets and band recitals. Arrangemen­ts have been made for special transit services to the various functions, and trips to the range and mountain scenery beauty spots during carnival week. A feature of the week will be a big rally of the Primary Producers’ Union, the Town Hall Theatre having been reserved for the occasion, and delegates will be present from other

States in the Commonweal­th. The carnival committee have made special arrangemen­ts with the Queensland Railway Department for railway facilities, and railway stations will be provided with posters conveying informatio­n of the time tables, etc, for the general public. Anyone living away from railway centres may obtain full informatio­n from the carnival organising secretary (Mr TL Adamson), Margaretst­reet, Toowoomba.
