ISRAEL is one of the most highly vaccinated countries in the world, just behind the UK, but it is now seeing a surge in cases amid an outbreak of the Delta variant. Restrictions that had been lifted in June were reinstated in August.
Anyone over the age of three requires proof of a negative test result or immunity (Covid-19 vaccination or recovery) to go to Green Pass venues such as gyms, restaurants and museums.
The Green Pass is required to access most public spaces in Israel, including synagogues, churches or mosques with more than 50 people.
Malls and shops are exempt from the Green Pass, but their capacity has been cut.
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett revealed this week that his government was working on a system to genetically scan all those who arrive via Ben Gurion Airport, the country’s main international gateway.
