Man allegedly stabbed in head
A MAN has allegedly been stabbed repeatedly with a crowbar during a brutal attack that left him with significant head and thigh injuries.
Stanthorpe Magistrates Court heard Andre James Star allegedly attacked a 45-yearold Texas man with the weapon about noon Sunday.
Police allege the wounding followed an altercation at an Inglewood Texas Rd home.
Star was arrested at a Texas property two hours later and taken to Warwick watchhouse and was refused bail.
Police prosecutor Steve de Lissa said the 46-year-old’s unlawful wounding charges would likely be upgraded to attempted murder due to the significant and deep wounds on the alleged victim’s legs.
“He was in Texas Hospital and was flown to Toowoomba Hospital,” he said.
Sergeant de Lissa said Star was both violent and uncooperative while being held in custody and made death threats against his alleged victim.
Defence lawyer Amber Acreman said her client was not in a fit state to appear in court and arrangements were being made for him to be assessed by a mental health professional.
Investigations are continuing into what led to the alleged attack but police said the two men were known to each other.
The matter is due to return to the court on Tuesday.
