DIGITAL DUNCES

-

AUSTRALIA risks lagging the world’s top tech nations unless it increases its investment in research, innovation and workers.

That’s according to a new study published by the Australian Academy of Science.

It found digital innovation only accounted for 7.4 per cent of the country’s GDP, compared to an average of 11.2 per cent in other OECD countries.

The Australian Academy of Science’s Shazia Sadiq urged Canberra to “recognise the importance of building scientific capability”.
