‘Bourne film plot’ mystery

-

ZAGREB: A woman who speaks “perfect English” has been found on a rock in the sea off Croatia but can’t say who she is or how she got there.

The woman, thought to be in her 60s, was covered in cuts and bruises when she was spotted by a fisherman on the craggy outcrop on the isle of Krk.

She was on her own crying and the fisherman was unable to reach her for fear of getting stranded on the rocks. He contacted police and she was eventually rescued by a team of 14 people who had to use 4x4s and walk two miles over the jagged rocks to reach her.

The woman was found a week ago and detectives have now released her details after failing to identify her. She is recovering in a local hospital.

A resident who lives nearby said: “It’s weird that she was in the area at all. It is an extremely inaccessible part of the bay with terribly sharp rocks – literally razors that cut your shoes. There is no life or animals except maybe wild boars.”
