CRICKET: The Darling Dingoes have capped their Brisbane Premier League season with a pair of grand final appearances.

Both the senior men and U19s were up and about for 8am semi finals against the Northern Kings in Brisbane.

A tremendous bowling effort from the U19s, including 1/6 from four overs from Danny Young restricted their opponents to 6/125, a total the Dingoes reached inside 19 overs with Young adding 59 runs.

They were felled by the Gold Coast Waveriders in the final however, going down by eight wickets.

Ironically it was Toowoomba’s Arshvir Singh that did the damage for the Waveriders, belting 60 runs from 28 balls.

The senior men enjoyed a similar path, scoring a big eight wicket victory over the Kings.

Sam Truloff (52 runs) and Steve McGiffin combined to ice the result for the Dingoes.

They also went on to play the Waveriders in the final, and were forced to chase 200 runs for victory despite McGiffin taking four wickets.

Brandon Faber (36 off 16) and Brendan McNae (40* off 15) tried hard, but it was a bridge to far as they fell short by 39 runs.

“They started out brilliantly and were really up for it,” Dingoes

co-owner Grant Spies said.

“They both had pretty convincing wins to start with and then came up against a red hot Waveriders outfit who were ready to go.”

“It’s a kudos to both teams for what we’ve created, with a bit of luck along the way.

“We got the two squads together after the games and had a bit of a talk.

“The vibe was really good and the said how much they enjoyed being with the franchise.

“They felt relaxed and said it's the most comfortable they’ve felt playing cricket in a long time.

“It means we don’t have to force them to play well, and if they want to be there that’s half the battle won.”

Junior boys divisions and the U19s women of the BPL take place this week.
