Deliveroo set to enter food scene next month

- WILL HUNTER VISIT DELIVEROO.COM.AU TO APPLY TO BE A DRIVER.

A NEW player is moving into Toowoomba’s crowded food delivery market, with Deliveroo announcing plans to expand to the Garden City.

The service will begin operations in Toowoomba from Monday, October 11.

It is one of 10 new locations the worldwide company expects to expand into by 2021.

Deliveroo Australia CEO Ed McManus said the business was “thrilled” to enter the market.

“(We) hope to support local economic growth through providing jobs and additional revenue streams for local restaurant businesses,” Mr McManus said.

“Riders are at the heart of all we do so we are extremely excited to welcome new riders in Toowoomba to our growing rider community. Their hard work powers our growth, and without them we would be unable to bring our customers the best food on demand while at the same time helping great local restaurants to grow.”

It’s the latest addition to the delivery scene, which already includes Uber Eats, Menulog, Doordash and even local provider Happy Too.

Deliveroo currently services 15 cities across Australia, including Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, and 800 locations across the globe.

The business is now on the hunt for people who would like to deliver food across the city.

You will need a scooter, motorbike, bike, e-bike or car, a phone, an ABN, proof of your right to work in Australia, safety equipment and identification.

Drivers must be over the age of 18.
