Jealous ex fires abusive tirade

A JEALOUS Granite Belt man has called his ex’s new beau disturbingly abusive and harassing names such as a necrophile, in retaliation for taking up with his ex.

Police prosecutor Steve de Lissa told the Stanthorpe Magistrates Court that Mark Anthony Ryan sent harassing and offensive text messages to his ex’s new partner on April 4.

“(Ryan) has accused (his ex’s partner) through these text messages of being a paedophile, necrophile, being a homosexual and a homewrecker,” Sergeant de Lissa said.

Sergeant de Lissa said the 44-year-old’s ex’s partner was offended by these messages and asked Ryan to stop sending them, but he persisted.

Magistrate Julian Noud said Ryan’s behaviour was both violent and unacceptable.

Ryan pleaded guilty to one count of using a carriage service to harass or cause offence.

He was fined $550.
