Hospital bus stop on the move

-

TOOWOOMBA Regional Council has given the green light to move a bus stop near the city’s public hospital.

Councillors agreed this week to move a bus stop from inside the hospital to Pechey Street until mid-2023.

“Compared to the current temporary bus stop inside the hospital, the proposed temporary bus stop in Pechey Street will provide a larger waiting area, shelter and seating for bus patrons,” councillor Melissa Taylor said.

Six car parks will be lost in the move, including two disability parks.

The council has asked Darling Downs Health to provide improved disability access arrangements from the bus stop to the hospital, and provide two disability parking spaces.

Ms Taylor said the council believed the best location for the bus stop was within the hospital.

“We’ll work with DDH and TransLink on putting plans in place to ensure the permanent location is constructed,” she said.
