MAN FLED SCENE OF CITY CRASH

POLICE are on the hunt for a man who fled the scene of a two-car crash in Newtown.

Initial reports indicate the male driver was behind the wheel of a red Ford Ranger when he turned into Gordon Avenue about 4.30pm on Thursday.

Witnesses at the scene said the man mounted the kerb near the intersecti­on with Teesdale Avenue before crashing head on with a silver Ford Focus.

He then crashed into a fence and left the scene.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the Ford Focus driver, a 17-year-old girl. was transporte­d to the Toowoomba Hospital as a precaution.

Anyone with informatio­n about the offence, or the whereabout­s of the driver, should phone 131 444.
