SOUTH AUST FUGITIVE GETS CAUGHT PASSING FAKE DRUG SCRIPTS IN CITY

-

A SOUTH Australian man who cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet before catching a flight to Toowoomba will spend the next week in custody after he was caught passing fake doctors scripts at a Toowoomba CBD chemist.

Travis Jenkins, 33, came to the attention of police after he attempted to buy controlled opiates on Wednesday. The chemist realised the script was fake and phoned the police.

Mr Jenkins was held in custody overnight to face the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with a raft of petty offences, including fraud.

His lawyer did not make an application for bail and Mr Jenkins has been remanded in custody until his next court date, on October 15.

Darling Downs City Patrols Group Inspector Paul James said it was likely Mr Jenkins would also be hit with a fine for failing to comply with a chief health officer’s direction.
