Stamp show goes virtual

FOR the first time, a national stamp exhibition will be held in a Queensland regional centre, when Toowoomba Stamp Club hosts the 2021 National OneFrame Exhibition on Saturday, October 9 and Sunday, October 10.

This year’s exhibition will incorporat­e a virtual display, with 67 entries from around the country already scanned and uploaded.

Judging is currently underway, with a panel of six judges from around Australia working remotely.

Overall and class winners will be announced on October 9.

The exhibition will be held at the Toowoomba Indoor Bowls Club in Annand Street, with doors opening at 10am Saturday and 9am Sunday.

A number of computers will be available so attendees can browse the displays.

As well as some rare and interestin­g stamps, the exhibition also includes exhibits of historical postcards.

Saturday is primarily a day for attendees to spend up big with the seven visiting dealers. There will also be club meetings for the Papuan Philatelic Society and the Queensland Chapter of the Australian Commonweal­th Collectors’ Club, plus some short talks on various topics.

Sunday has been designated “Club Sunday”, when a number of visiting clubs from around Queensland will be present, offering items for sale from their club books. An auction will also be held. To view the virtual displays go to www.toowoombas­tampclub.org.
