MAROONS STAR ARRESTED

The NRL’s grand final buildup in Queensland has been marred by revelations one of the code’s rising stars, Maroons squad member Reece Walsh, has been arrested.

Walsh was arrested by police on Saturday night over an alleged incident at a Surfers Paradise nightclub.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said it was investigating whether he was involved in “drug and public order offences”.

Vision of his arrest was captured by onlookers and made its way on to social media.

Warriors chief executive Cameron George confirmed the club’s fullback was arrested after an incident on the Gold Coast on Saturday.

He said he had met Walsh on Sunday morning and had informed the NRL Integrity Unit. George said the club would not make further comment until a later stage.
