Fire rips through old Oakey farm house, destroying it in minutes
NEITHER the police nor the firefighters will launch a follow-up investigation after a fire destroyed a house and shed in Oakey early on Tuesday.
Five Queensland Fire and Emergency Services units were called to the blaze on Janetzki Road about 4am.
They arrived to find a timber structure fully engulfed in flames. It had burnt down to the stumps and the crews started clearing debris by about 5.45am.
Toowoomba Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Brian Collins said the structure had been vacant for about 15 years and was in the process of being demolished.
“There is nothing left, just burnt timber and iron,” he said.
The owner had recently removed a large amount of scrap metal. The fire is being treated as non-suspicious.
