A woman who wanted to spend the day canoodling with her boyfriend called in a bomb threat to his work.

Kayla Blake, 33, called Puritan Medical Products on a weekday morning saying she intended to plant four pipe bombs near the factory, Pete Bickmore, the police chief of Pittsfield in Maine, said.

The calls forced the closure of the factory in Pittsfield and a neighbouri­ng plant, with all staff sent home for the day.

The FBI traced the call and Blake was charged with terrorisin­g. She was remanded in custody after a court hearing.
