CHOCOLATE COMPANY’S GLOBAL REACH

- TOM GILLESPIE

TREVOR Smith’s award-winning chocolate will soon be enjoyed by thousands of people in China.

The owner of homegrown success story Metiisto Artisan Chocolate has expanded the company’s exporting portfolio, with hundreds of packs set to be shipped within weeks.

Mr Smith said the opportunity came from the buyers seeking his product out.

“The Chinese found us from our reputation abroad,” he said.

“They handle their own shipping, they take care of all the distribution.

“It’s the best customer we’ve ever worked with.”

It comes just a few weeks after Metiisto scored an incredible five gold awards at the Academy of Chocolate Awards, which were judged in London by 35 judges.

Mr Smith said it was hard to overemphasise how significant the achievement was, considering the company’s two-person operation.

Metiisto’s shopfront is located on Alderley Street in Harristown.
