Natives are a carnival hit

THIS year’s Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers provided a great opportunity for members of Native Plants Queensland to showcase a range of Australian native plants.

Not only were they selling Australian native plants suitable to our region but members also provided floral displays of flowers grown in their gardens.

Visitors were delighted by a display of Australian native Dendrobium orchids as well as very young Australian native bonsai trees.

From day one of the show, the visitor numbers were excellent and members of the group were kept busy fielding questions regarding the growing and care of native plants, as well as bird and bee attracting flowers.

The group now looks forward to next year when they can once again present to the community the benefits of growing Australian native plants.
