Disability units plan submitted

- TOM GILLESPIE

A DEVELOPER has put forward plans for a set of units in a growing suburb of Toowoomba, with the aim seemingly to cater for residents with disabilities.

Tariq Mohammad last week lodged a development application with the council to build a series of “disability units” on Brisbane Street in Drayton, including three two-bedroom dwellings and one three-bedroom space.

According to the report by Ken Drew Town Planning, the units would replace an existing residential property. Access to the site would be via a crossover off Colvins Street, with nine car spaces allocated.

The council has yet to respond to the application.

The proposal comes just a few weeks after the Endeavour Foundation announced plans to expand its social housing offering.
