TITANS PLAYER HELPS KICK VACCINATION GOALS

- SAM TURNER

FOOTY fans who got the jab at Dalby last week were given the chance to meet one of their sporting idols.

Darling Downs Health enlisted the help of Gold Coast Titans halfback Ash Taylor for their visiting Covid-19 vaccination clinic at the Dalby Events Centre on Thursday.

A DDH spokeswoman said 926 doses had been administered to Dalby residents during its fourday clinic.

It’s believed vaccination numbers were lower than expected due to the school holidays which lured residents out of town, but Taylor said he met plenty of footy fans at the clinic.

“I have a strong belief in the Covid jab to keep our community safe, so I’m glad I was able to come out here to spread the word and show my presence ...” he said.

“We should get the vaccine to keep ourselves safe, as well as our families in our Indigenous communities.”

As of last week, more than 37 per cent of Western Downs residents had been fully vaccinated, which was just below the 40 per cent vaccination target set up by the government for local government areas.

Darling Downs Health’s next vaccination clinic at the Events Centre will run October 18–21.
