CITY STAR’S NEW HONOUR

-

CHARLOTTE Chimes exploded onto Australian television screens a little over a year ago, starring as the mysterious Nicolette Stone on Neighbours.

A year after her big break, she has been nominated for an international award and left an incredible legacy at the same time.

Chimes has been nominated for Best Daytime Star at the Inside Soap Awards, a set of British television awards likened to the Logies in Australia.

The star said it was a huge surprise to be nominated, but even greater was the fact that there were four queer characters nominated.

Chimes, whose character Nicolette is openly gay, is nominated alongside April Rose Pengilly, whose character Chloe is bisexual, and Matt Wilson and Takaya Honda who play Aaron and David, a gay couple.

“That was what felt the most special,” Chimes said.

“Neighbours really pushes boundaries in terms of having visibility. “I feel honoured to play a person of the LGBTQ community and that they’re being recognised.”
