TOOWOOMBA BUSINESSES RECOGNISED

TWO Toowoomba-based businesses have been recognised for the mark they’ve made on the world stage, scooping up awards at the Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards Gala in Brisbane tonight.

Mort & Co picked up the Regional Exporter Award for the top export company with its headquarte­rs outside Brisbane.

Its feedlot at Grassdale, west of

Toowoomba, is Australia’s largest, capable of turning off upwards of 200,000 cattle per annum and Mort & Co currently exports to 26 countries.

Mort & Co CEO Stephen O’Brien said it was an honour to be recognised for their hard work.

“It’s a reward that we can all be proud of,” he said.

“We’re humbled by the award; no doubt it’s been tough since Covid reached our shores, but it proved to us that we can compete and improve during times of challenge.

“It also showed that we can be more corageous in our thinking and be more willing to take calculated risks, and that’s what we’ve done, but we won’t stop there.”

Milton & King, which is Australia’s largest wallpaper manufactur­ing company exporting all over the world with major markets in the US and UK, received the e-commerce award.
