SUPER SEAWEED

-

THE federal government is eyeing off seaweed as a potential solution to combat the methane emissions from livestock.

Energy and Emissions Reduction Minister Angus Taylor on Thursday announced the government would co-invest $675,000 through the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre to fund the project.

After carbon dioxide, methane is the world’s second largest greenhouse gas, accounting for 14 per cent of global emissions and estimated to have a heating effect 34 times more than CO2. The world seaweed market is worth $11bn.
