ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE OPTION FOR OLD CINEMA

-

MARANOA Regional Council will prepare a report for a possible community and entertainment centre in Roma following the closure of its only cinema.

Council documents reveal Mayor Tyson Golder has proposed a request for an agenda report for the ordinary meeting on Wednesday.

“I’d like to propose that council investigate development of a community and entertainment centre, which would include movies, tenpin bowling, and an indoor children’s play centre,” the documents read.

“The investigation of site/s excludes 37 Hawthorne St, Roma (the site of Cinema Roma).”

Mr Golder further proposed to incorporate a plan for weekend movies to be shown at other existing halls within the Maranoa. The new developer declined to comment on their plans. They said their community-based project would most likely open in 2022.
