BULLDOGS UNVEIL PRIZED SIGNING

- MATT LOGUE

RUGBY league’s Fox – Josh Addo-Carr – is now a Dog and the former Storm star is ready to leave his “comfort zone” and lead the rebuilding Canterbury Bulldogs to greater heights.

The Bulldogs unveiled Addo-Carr in his new club colours this week in a welcome sight for longsuffering fans. The NSW Origin flyer is keen to become a leader at Canterbury after learning from the likes of Cam Smith and coach Craig Bellamy during his five seasons in Melbourne.

Addo-Carr believes he can help the Bulldogs – last season’s wooden spooners – build something special.

“The club is definitely moving in the right direction,” Addo-Carr said.

“I think I’ve come at a good time. There is some awesome players here and I’m keen to learn off them.

“For myself it is probably to step out of my comfort zone and come to the Bulldogs – I love helping people, so to try and lead the club in the right direction.

“I’ve spent five seasons in Melbourne and have some great memories there, but I just wanted to try something new at another team.”

Former Canterbury captain Andrew Ryan could not be happier as the Bulldogs build one of the NRL’s best backlines.

Ryan is excited about signings such as Addo-Carr and premiership-winning Penrith centre Matt Burton, whom he coached at junior level. He said Burton “has so much confidence in himself that once he gets out on the field he explodes”.
