Circus Tent Wrecked

At Wallangarra yesterday 80 degrees of heat was registered during the morning, and a strong northerly wind was blowing. At 1.30pm the wind veered to the west with cyclonic intensity. Trees were blown down, and one large limb was blown on to Sole Bros’ circus tent, which was carried away in threads a few moments later. The damage was estimated at £100. The gale swept a path a half-mile wide for half an hour, and then the wind dropped.

The Telegraph, October 13, 1925 The usual monthly meeting of the Drayton and Toowoomba Agricultural and Horticultural Society was held at the School of Arts on Monday afternoon. Present – Messrs Barry, Radford, Stenner, Campbell, Perkins, Groom, Finnie, Lavis and Beer. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from the Warrego from Mr David Beh resigning his seat as a member of the committee, as he had 15,000 sheep in charge, and he was uncertain whether his destination would be Melbourne or Sydney. The resignation was accepted, and Mr RF Walker appointed. A letter was read from the Secretary, stating that through his horse falling down a digger’s shaft at Kilkivan he had dislocated his shoulder, or he would have been at Toowoomba ere this. He explained the matters he had been written to about, and regretted any delay that had occurred through his accident. Sundry small accounts were ordered to be paid, and the meeting closed.
