THE WEATHER THE HEAT WAVE COOLER CONDITIONS COMING

As anticipate­d by “The Chronicle” the heat wave continued yesterday.

It is some consolatio­n to know that in Melbourne and Adelaide the thermomete­r has been from 10 to 12 degrees higher!

Screen minimum...68.0

Grass minimum...63.7 GATTON: 109 DEGREES

Passengers by the Western mail train last evening stated that it was 109 degrees at Gatton yesterday when the train was passing through that centre.

THE WARREGO: 110 TO 112 DEGREES Charlevill­e, Tuesday

Real “old man” summer throughout the west. Frightfull­y hot. Reading: 106 in the shade yesterday. Gowrie and other stations report 110 and 112 yesterday. It was a cruel day, with the heat, and for the races.
