Funding for road
A TOTAL of $2 million in safety improvement works will soon be delivered along Toowoomba-Karara Road from Todd Road, Cambooya to Southbrook Road, Felton.
The jointly funded project is set to begin this month and be completed by December 2021, weather permitting.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Barnaby Joyce announced the start of construction for the jointly funded project to upgrade the increasingly busy road.
The works will involve widening the road and improving safety for turning vehicles at two important intersections along this increasingly busy road.
Queensland Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the improvements were part of the Palaszczuk Government’s record $27.5 billion roads and transport plan.
“Not only are we delivering a record spend on roads and transport over the next four years, but a record portion of that will also be invested in the regions,” Mr Bailey said.
“As a key connector between the Cunningham Highway and the New England Highway, improving the Toowoomba-Karara Road is important to locals.
“Wider lanes and intersection improvements make a big difference when it comes to reducing the likelihood of crashes on our regional roads.”
Federal Member for Groom Garth Hamilton said the Federal Liberal and Nationals Government is committed to keeping our communities safe, while securing our economic recovery
“This project is a fantastic local example of our commitment to get Queenslanders home sooner and safer,” Mr Hamilton said.
