The rise of electric vehicles has seen demand for lithium boom and Vulcan Energy is creating a zerocarbon lithium project in Germany. Shares in the company, backed by both Gina Rinehart and her son John Hancock, have surged from $1 to more than $12 in the past year.

Another lithium miner cashing in on the battery boom, Orocobre bedded down a merger with Galaxy Resources in September to produce a $6bn lithium powerhouse. Orocobre’s share price has almost tripled in the past five years.
