Remember the Alamo

-

TEXAS CITY: A new battle for the Alamo is raging over how to present the largest private collection of artefacts from the 1836 Texas massacre donated by its most prominent aficionado, the musician Phil Collins.

The Genesis muso, 70, became fixated as a boy with the Disney film Davy Crockett: King of the Wild Frontier.

In 2006 a psychic told Collins that he was the reincarnation of an Alamo soldier, John W. Smith. The establishment of a new building to house Collins’s collection has been held up by years of wrangling over the Alamo narrative amid calls for a greater recognition of Hispanic settlers and Mexican soldiers.
