WHATEVER FLOATS YOUR RACE BOAT

- RHYLEA MILLAR

INNOVATION was to the fore as students from St Ursula’s College took part in the school’s annual boat race, and the competition was fierce.

But the action wasn’t all that had spectators on the edge of their seats, with the costumes and craftsmanship just as impressive.

Coinciding with this year’s toy box theme, students showed up as characters from Sesame St and The Smurfs.

And despite dressing up as characters from Bananas in Pyjamas, there was no sleeping on the job for Zoe Wallace and her crew who used an inflatable pool as their mode of transport.

“The school spirit is so strong, and we all get out and really give it a good go, which makes it super fun and enjoyable,” she said.

“We didn’t go too badly in the race – our boat made it to the finals, but we didn’t win in the end … we didn’t have to drag anyone along though.”

The event took place on Wednesday and is part of St Ursula’s Week.
