Centre’s IGA now in new hands

- WILL HUNTER

NEW owners have officially taken over the IGA inside the Hooper Centre Shopping Village, a couple of months after it suddenly closed its doors.

The shopping centre confirmed the supermarket had reopened under new management earlier this week.

For almost a year, the store ran with bare shelves as its former owner Bansal Group attempted to sell off its 19 IGA stores across the country.

The store revealed in May the bare shelves were due to an incoming change of ownership at the store.

This eventually resulted in the Hooper Centre store’s closure back in August.

Metcash, the grocery company that supplies IGA stores, confirmed a new tenant would take over the property following its closure.

The Newtown IGA, which was also owned by Bansal Group, closed in May.

The Hooper Centre IGA is open from 6am-8pm each day.
