Fowles Wines are located just outside Euroa in northeast Victoria in the cool climate, mineral rich ancient Strathbogi­e Ranges. They craft aromatic whites and reds with a little help from nearby regions such as the Yarra and King Valleys.

FOWLES WINES, STONE DWELLERS, RIESLING, 2020

Single Strathbogi­e Ranges vineyard at 550m above sea level. Cool stone, easy lime, feijoa and green apple skin. Complex palate, with mineral water depth and mercurial slipperine­ss. Tight, intense finish.

FOWLES WINES, ARE YOU GAME?, ARNEIS, 2020

Majority King Valley arneis, with chardonnay and riesling. All pears, limes and melon flesh. Zings bright and fresh with sandy grip and plenty of easy fruit. A well-made and good value aromatic white, best with a tray of nori rolls. Rating: 92/100

FOWLES WINES, LADIES WHO SHOOT THEIR LUNCH, CHARDONNAY, 2020

Yarra Valley and Strathbogi­e Ranges fruit. This highly successful label is naturally fermented in old and new barrels. Smoky, cedary oak blending with bread crust, grilled nuts, flint and yellow stone fruit. Medium weight, slippery peach mid palate finishing long, with a savoury tail and fine focus.
