This new Gold Coast hinterland estate is all about savouring a slower pace, from farm-fresh breakfasts to pampering spa sessions.
Fine dining, polo fields and passcodeprotected front gates – a new Gold Coast hinterland retreat offers holiday-makers the full country estate experience.
While they lay the luxury on at Beechmont’s Hazelwood Estate, general manager Tom Simpson promises pretensionfree country hospitality.
“Having that private estate feel is our uniqueness, but we are all about relaxed luxury,” he said.
“You can come and recharge, just to disconnect from the world, or you can have a really active weekend.
“We’re right on the gates of Lamington National Park.
“And some of the nation’s best hiking trails, there’s horseback riding down the road, yoga classes, a day spa and cocktail-making masterclasses.”
A range of accommodation types cater for guests over the age of 14, with fireplaces and private verandas to take in the pastoral panorama. Luxury Pavilions are angled to capture the sunset, including from the freestanding bath through floor-to-ceiling windows.
“Our pavilions and cabins are perfectly positioned for a secluded getaway, without forgoing life’s little luxuries,” Mr Simpson said.
“Guests can wake early to watch the sunrise over the hills, listen to the whipbirds or watch a wallaby jump past before slipping back into their king-size bed in front of their personal fireplace.”
While travellers have the constant temptation of a mini bar loaded with local produce, they can also look forward to multiple meals at on-site restaurant The Paddock.
Chef-in-residence Cameron Matthews’ menu is built around market produce and boasts beef tartare; toasted camel milk gnocchi with brown butter; and coal-grilled beef.
“All the rates include breakfast and dinner,” Mr Simpson said.
“Breakfasts are a beautiful farm-style platter full of local goodies with coffee from Gold Coast roaster Paradox.
“Dinners are a la carte with three courses of seasonal, sustainable produce from the Scenic Rim and our own garden.”
The retreat’s day spa – Spa by Hazelwood – offers organic facials, massage, scrubs and wraps inspired by the riches of the Scenic Rim.
The completely new build has transformed what was once a derelict dairy farm.
There are almost 5000 trees planted on the property.
“We’re leaving a very minimal footprint,” Mr Simpson said.
“The whole resort is rainwater-fed and mostly solar powered.”
Hazelwood Estate is open Wednesday to Sunday, and can also host corporate and health retreats, private celebrations and weddings.
Visitors will need to use a passcode at the front gates which they’ll be given when they book.
