From Chanel handbags to an old school uniform, Ada Nicodemou’s wardrobe is a sentimental trip down memory lane, where every piece tells a stylish story. Drawing inspiration from Jennifer Aniston, Ada’s closet choices are chic but simple, where neutral tones, denim and LBDs reign supreme. Despite a bad hair moment during the early ’90s (it was the ’90s after all) this leading Home and Away lady always looks like a star.
How would you describe your personal style?
I’d say sporty/classic/elegant. I wear a lot of neutral tones (white, grey, black, beige). I love dresses when I’m going out but, during the day, I tend to stick to something comfortable … and I love a pair of high heels.
Who are your style icons?
Jennifer Aniston and everything she wears. Sarah Jessica Parker and her style in Sex and the City. Oldest item in your wardrobe?
I have my Year 10 formal dress (which still fits me!) it’s an old Lisa Ho dress.
What are your favourite brands?
I love Australian designers Aje, Scanlan Theodore, Leo & Lin, Toni Maticevski, Steven Khalil, J’aton, Paolo Sebastian, Velani, Shona Joy, Manning Cartell.
Have you ever made any style faux pas?
I’m sure I’ve made many! When I was in high school, I used to have one of these big, teased fringes and I bleached just one side of the fringe. That was pretty bad.
What’s the most you’ve spent on an outfit?
A Chanel handbag, which I bought for my 40th birthday. I was in Florence with all of my friends and my family celebrating my birthday.
Most surprising thing in your wardrobe?
Hmmm … a school uniform.
Top three wardrobe must haves?
A great pair of jeans; a good white T-shirt; a tailored jacket; and I’m going to add a fourth, a nice pair of heels.
Most sentimental item in your wardrobe?
The outfit I wore for my son’s christening. I’ve still got it.
What would you buy if money was no object?
A beautiful red Valentino dress.
Summer or winter?
Winter fashion (even though I hate the season).
Denim or dresses?
Both! I can’t decide. Dresses when I’m going out, denim for during the day.
High heels or sneakers?
Sneakers during the day and high heels at night.
Is there anything from your wardrobe you regret throwing out?
Yes. A pair of Levi 501s. I bought them at an op shop in Miranda (Sydney) – we were filming Heartbreak High – I was like 16 years old. They were the coolest blue, washed out, a bit ripped 501s and I wore them to death. They went out of fashion and I got rid of them and now I always think “if only I’d hung on to those 501 jeans”.
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
I’m too scared to count … but I’m going to say around 40?
