VALLEYS HIT RESET BUTTON

- JASON GIBBS

IT’S A position they’ve rarely been in, but Valleys are not panicking after an 0-3 start to their TRL season.

The Roosters have hit the reset button to forget their recent performances, and coach Brett Seymour is confident they can get the job done against Oakey.

VALLEYS Roosters are in unfamiliar territory.

Three games into the Toowoomba Rugby League A-grade season, the Pillar Street club are winless.

The traditional TRL powerhouses are not panicking though.

A-grade coach Brett Seymour has hit the reset button and the Roosters will face Oakey Bears with a clean slate.

“We’re certainly not jumping out of our skin,” Seymour said.

“Not having a win after our first three games isn’t the position we want to be in but we’re not panicking.

“Our pre-season was very disjointed but that’s not an excuse.

“I think we’re a bit settled now and I think we can turn things around pretty quickly.”

The Roosters play host to Bears on Sunday.

Bears have been the TRL’s surprise packet this year and while Seymour praised the club’s turnaround the Roosters will not take a backward step against their opposition.

“It’s good to see them doing well,” Seymour said.

“It’s great for the club because the whole town gets right behind them.

“We’re going in wanting the win – it’ll need to be an 80 minute performance.

“They will bring a lot of fire and passion and we’ll need to match that.

“We have to be disciplined. A few times this season there have been calls we thought were 50-50 that went against us and we held onto those decisions.

“We have to let that go and be disciplined – pin them down in their half and don’t let them get any easy metres.”
