QFES HEADQUARTE­RS AND ROWES PRECINCT ARCHITECTU­RE CELEBRATED

THREE new additions to the Darling Downs over the past year have picked up awards for their unique designs.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Southweste­rn Regional Headquarte­rs at Charlton, used by three government agencies, SES, QFRS and RFS, is dedicated to supporting and offering urgent disaster relief.

The Toowoomba architects behind the design, Sims White Architects, have been announced as award recipients at the Darling Downs/West Moreton 2022 Australian Institute of Architects’ Regional Architectu­re Awards on Friday night.

Sims White Architects received the William Hodgen Building of the Year Award, the Regional Project of the Year Award and a Commercial Architectu­re Commendati­on.

Meanwhile Rowes Precinct architects Aspect Architects and Project Managers won the People’s Choice Award for Darling Downs/West Moreton Region and a commendati­on for Urban Design.

Architects Nielsen Jenkins were the award recipients for House of the Year for Toowoomba House, between Toowoomba and Crows Nest.

They also received Commendati­on for Residentia­l Architectu­re – Houses.

The regional award winners are automatica­lly short-listed for the Queensland awards which will be held next month.
