Voting centres now open

TOOWOOMBA residents voting in Groom at the upcoming federal election can now cast their ballot early from this morning.

The Australian Electoral Commission has revealed the four locations where people not wanting or unable to vote on May 21 can vote earlier.

Early Voting Centre Locations

● 21 Jones Street – Harlaxton

● 177-185 Anzac Avenue – Harristown

● 566-570 Ruthven Street – Toowoomba City

● 526-528 Boundary Street – Wilsonton

Election experts are expecting a record early voter turnout, prompting the Australian Electoral Commission to add more pre-poll booths and officers.

With Covid prompting more people to avoid crowds, it’s expected this year’s prepoll will be the battleground where trends are set and early winners are called.
