Toowoomba plays host to state netball titles
NETBALL: The next generation of Queensland’s representative netballers put their skills on show in Toowoomba at the weekend.
The Glennie School and St Mary’s played host to 24 teams competing in two age divisions as part of the Queensland School Sport 13-19 years girls netball championships.
With merit and representative team honours on the line the play was fast and furious but also played in the right spirit according to competition organiser Meg Englart.
NETBALL: More than 200 of Queensland’s best school netballers staked their representative claims in Toowoomba at the weekend.
Starting late last week The Glennie School and St Mary’s played host to the Queensland School Sport 13-19 years Netball Championships with 24 teams – two from each representative region – in action.
“The quality of play was fantastic,” competition organiser Meg Englart said.
“The future of netball in Queensland is definitely very bright when you look at the players and level of competition here today.”
South Coast were all smiles at the end of the fourday event after winning both of the competition’s divisions with 24 teams
Darling Downs were narrowly beaten 34-30 by Sunshine Coast in the thirdfourth playoff in the 16-19 years division.
