Alleged offender in daylight robbery faces Childrens Court

- MICHAEL NOLAN

A TOOWOOMBA boy has been held in custody and was charged with 15 offences after he was arrested in connection to an alleged violent daylight robbery.

Police will allege the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was among a group of teens who were ransacking an Esperanto Court home in Kearneys Spring when they were disturbed by the occupants.

The occupants – a man, a woman and their two daughters – returned home from a holiday about 2pm on Sunday, May 1 and pulled into their driveway, inadvertently parking behind a stolen Alfa Romeo.

They observed several teens exiting their home carrying items stolen from the property.

Police will allege that at least one of the teens took a stolen golf club and smashed the front passenger and drivers-side windows, and the windscreen, while the family were inside the vehicle.

The occupants then reversed out of their driveway and the teens fled in the Alfa Romeo.

Police arrested the alleged prime offender at the weekend.

He was brought before the Toowoomba Childrens Court on Monday. His lawyer did not apply for bail and he was remanded in custody.

A second teen who is not connected to the Kearneys Spring robbery was also arrested at the weekend.

He also faced the Toowoomba Childrens Court yesterday, charged with 10 offences and was remanded in custody.
