No show leads to jail time

- PETER HARDWICK

A HABIT of missing court dates has left a Toowoomba woman behind bars.

Jodie Amanda McIntyre was found playing pokies at the Southern Hotel at the weekend and taken into custody on warrants for failing to front Toowoomba Magistrates Court on May 3.

She appeared before court on Monday to plead guilty to that charge and was sentenced to three months’ jail, wholly suspended for 15 months.

However, her solicitor Jag MacDonald, of MacDonald Law, then applied for bail on her behalf on other drug-related charges.

Police prosecutor Leea Trewin said police objected to bail on the grounds McIntyre had a lengthy criminal history and that she was a risk of committing further offences as she was allegedly still using drugs as she was found with drug items and morphinebased medication when arrested.

Acting Magistrate Geoffrey Seaholme refused bail and remanded McIntyre in custody with her matters adjourned to June 6 for mention.
