Jail time for evading cops

-

A ROUTINE traffic stop for a breath test ended up with a man spending more than a month in a jail cell.

Officers first spotted Jack Langton’s car pulling out from forestry on to Old Cherbourg Rd about 4am on February 20, swaying across the road.

When police activated their lights, Langton sped away for a minute before the 36-year-old pulled into a street.

Langton told police that he hadn’t stopped immediately as he had been drinking alcohol.

When police told him he was detained for a breath test, Langton fled the scene again.

Langton pleaded guilty to one count of failing to stop.

He was on parole at the time of the offending and spent 59 days in custody prior to his court appearance, which counted as time already served. He was also disqualified from driving for two years.
