ALYCE PUTS HANDS UP FOR SENATE

- MORGAN BURLEY

ACCESSIBLE and affordable housing is just one of the big pushes Cambooya resident Alyce Nelligan would be demanding if elected to the Senate on May 21.

Ms Nelligan was recently announced as the Green’s candidate for the Senate, an honour she said she took very seriously.

“The Senate is a special place in Australian politics, where you can really examine the issues,” she said.

“I’m very passionate about politics and social justice, and it is a true dream come true to be a Senate candidate.”

Ms Nelligan, who is in Group J on the Senate ballot paper, said the housing crisis, mental health, dental health and NDIS were large priorities for her when it came to fighting for residents.

“Our people are worried about affording just the basics, especially with Covid and people having to take more time off work,” she said.

“People are really struggling, so raising the rates to $88 a day is something I’m really passionate about.”
