Sudden death of magistrate

- PETER HARDWICK

THE Toowoomba and wider Queensland legal community are mourning the sudden death of respected magistrate Howard Osborne.

Mr Osborne’s body was found at the foot of Queen Mary Falls on Monday, May 3.

Educated in his home town of Warwick, Mr Osborne practised law across Queensland before being called to the bar as a magistrate in 2006.

He presided over a number of court jurisdictions in the state, and spent some time as a magistrate in the Townsville Magistrates Court before moving back south to the Toowoomba Magistrates Court jurisdiction in 2021.

Mr Osborne was well respected for his broad knowledge of the law, and his efficient and effective judgments over a wide range of sentencing and court hearings in Toowoomba and across the Darling Downs. Call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
