MAN, 39, IN COURT ON CHARGES ARISING FROM SHOOTING INCIDENT

- PETER HARDWICK

A 39-YEAR-OLD man charged in relation to a shooting incident on a Harristown street last Friday has been remanded in custody.

Russell Andrew White remained in the watch house when his matters were mentioned in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning with his solicitor Nathan Bouchier, of Bouchier Khan Lawyers, telling the court his client’s appearance in court was not required.

Mr Bouchier said his client would not be applying for bail at this stage.

He asked for an adjournment so he could take instructions from White.

White was not required to enter any pleas to the charges which include going armed so as to cause fear, six counts of unlawfully using motor vehicles, six counts of disqualified driving, seven counts of stealing, three counts of receiving and one of burglary.

Police claim several shots were fired at a police vehicle on Dempsey St, Harristown, about 2pm, Friday, May 6.

Police allegedly returned fire with a passenger struck.

Acting Magistrate Lisa O’Neill remanded White in custody and adjourned his case for mention back in the same court on June 8.
