Grammar duo in good form

-

FOOTBALL: It wasn’t the result they wanted for their team, but two Toowoomba Grammar footballers can hold their heads high after admirable GPS performances at the weekend.

Jayden Hearn and Thisaja Samarawickrama feature in Courier Mail journalist Nick Tucker’s GPS First XI round three team of the week.

Hearn was a standout performer in a losing side on Saturday afternoon using some excellent footwork to create multiple scoring chances.

Samarawickrama had a great defensive game.

He won the ball repeatedly off TSS attacking players, as they mounted repeated pressure on the TGS goal.

St Joseph’s College Gregory Terrace have continued their premiership winning form from 2021, starting this season with three wins from three games.

St Joseph’s Nudgee College and Ipswich Grammar School stand with them at the top of the table, starting their 2022 campaigns with three convincing victories.

The Southport School got their first win of the season over Toowoomba Grammar.

Other players: Chris Slater (Brisbane Boys College), Luke Blackwell and Declan Parkinson (Nudgee College), Will Dent and Eddie Ince (Gregory Terrace), Kye and Callan Van Walsum (Ipswich Grammar School), Douglas Pearce and Lucas Rossie (Anglican Church Grammar School),

Round 4 schedule: Brisbane Boys’ College v St Joseph’s Nudgee College, Brisbane State High School v St Joseph’s College Gregory Terrace, Ipswich Grammar School v Brisbane Grammar School, The Southport School v Anglican Church Grammar School.
