WHETHER it’s canapes and cocktails or applepicki­ng and dancing, there’s something for everyone happening in the Darling Downs region this weekend.

1. Toy showcase

Browse a selection of handmade dolls, bears, toys, collectabl­es and winter craft this Saturday.

Starting at 9am, the Toowoomba Winter Doll, Bear and Toy Show will be held at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, at 131 James St.

The unique boutique event showcases lovely items handmade by talented artisans.

2. Markets

Visit one or all of the various markets being held across the region this weekend.

Head over to the town of Pittsworth and explore the popular travelling Made With Love markets between 8am and 1pm on Saturday. Check out the amazing handmade products and support local creators. Then on Sunday, the Queens Park craft markets will be held from 8am to 1pm on Lindsay St and features more than 60 stalls.

Grab a bite to eat from the various food vendors and bring your dog along too.

3. Mums and Bubs Expo

Find everything you need for mums and the little ones this weekend at the Mums and Bubs Expo.

The event will have markets catering to all the stages, including pregnancy, birth and more.

Head over to The Mills Precinct on Ruthven St on Sunday, between 9am and 1pm.

4. Gordon’s Garden Party

Dress up and enjoy a delicious canape package this Saturday at Gordon’s Garden Party.

Hosted by Achieveit Financial Planning and Approveit Home Loans, the event will be held at Clifford Park Racecourse on Hursley Rd, from 4pm.

There will be live entertainm­ent and guests will receive a Gordon’s Gin cocktail on arrival.

5. Dancing queens

Grab your chunkiest pair of heels and cover yourself in sequins when the Toowoomba edition of Dancing With the Queens takes to the stage of The Cube Hotel.

Drag queens Justine Deeva, Liz Anya, Tori Minhalf and Dylicious Sweetz will put on an entertaini­ng performanc­e to remember this Saturday night, and it kicks off at 6.30pm.

Entry is $29 and bookings are essential.

6. Colour laboratory session

Learn about the science of colour at the Cobb and Co Museum this Saturday afternoon.

Running from 1pm to 3.30pm, kids will see how chemical reactions create glowing liquids and will take handmade playdough home with them.

Two workshops will be held for ages five to eight and nine to 14, so please choose the correct category when booking online.

Tickets are $35 at cobb.qm.qld.gov.au.

7. Adopt a friend

Make a difference and a new friend by adopting a kitty from the Street Cat Alliance Queensland stall in Queens Park on Sunday.

The mini adoption day and fundraiser will be held on Hume St, between 8am and 1pm.

Have a cuddle and fall in love with the cuddly kittens looking for a loving family and home or take advantage of the giveaways and prizes.

8. Grand opening

Celebrate the launch of Gold’s Gym Toowoomba at the gym’s in-house cafe Raw Energy and grab a smoothie or juice for $1.

The general public are welcome to attend the club and train from free on Saturday, from 9am to 2pm. Bring the kids along to experience the jumping castle, face painting and glitter bar.

There will also be free massages, live entertainm­ent and giveaways.

9. Apple picking

Take a drive to Applethorp­e and participat­e in the final Apple Pick Your Own event for the year.

The Eastern Colour family farm will open their gates to the public on

Saturday and Sunday, from 9am to 1pm, with new season Pink Lady apples and strawberri­es available. The farm is at 244 Aerodrome Rd. Bookings are essential.

10. French pastry workshop

Discover the art and joy of making your own delicious French pastries at a workshop hosted by famous Michelinst­arred chef Bruno Loubet.

Set on an idyllic farm in the hamlet of Perseveran­ce, the Willow Vale Cooking School class will include demonstrat­ions of tartes, eclairs, almond puff cake and strawberry sponge.

Guests will enjoy a three-course lunch following the workshop.

The workshop is on Saturday and runs from 9.30am to 3pm.
