1926 ERIC MORECAMBE English comedian

Morecambe formed the comedy duo Morecambe and Wise with Ernie Wise. At the height of their popularity, a Christmas edition of Morecambe and Wise attracted 28 million viewers in Britain. The partnershi­p lasted from 1941 until Morecambe’s death in 1984.

1944 GEORGE LUCAS American director

Lucas is best known for creating the Star Wars and Indiana Jones film franchises and for founding Lucasfilm and LucasArts. Star Wars became the highest-grossing film of all time after its 1977 release.

1952 DAVID BYRNE Scottish musician

Byrne was a founding member and the principal songwriter, lead singer and guitarist for the American new wave band Talking Heads. He shared the 1988 Best Music (Original Score) Academy Award for the film The Last Emperor.

1961 TIM ROTH English actor

Roth had appeared in a string of successful films before collaborat­ing with Quentin Tarantino on Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Four Rooms, and The Hateful Eight. He won a BAFTA for his performanc­e in the film Rob Roy.

1969 CATE BLANCHETT Australian actor

Blanchett has won two Academy Awards, three BAFTAS, three SAG Awards and three Golden Globe Awards. Her Oscars were for her performanc­es in The Aviator (2004) and Blue Jasmine (2013).
