SHOW OFFERS THE RAINBOW CONNECTION

- RHYLEA MILLAR

ART has the power to connect others through human experiences and an upcoming exhibition aims to do just that.

Fairholme College student Sarah McMaster has been passionate about art since she was a young child. Now the 17-year-old has displayed her work at the school’s annual art show, FACETS: An Art Exhibition at Fairholme.

“I love the freedom that art allows to express yourself as there is no right or wrong answer (and) it allows people to see the world through other’s eyes,” she said.

“The artwork I have put into the exhibition is a painting of the Japanese Gardens in Toowoomba – when I go to the gardens I instantly feel at peace and I wanted to portray that through this artwork so others could connect with that feeling.”

Curated by Sue Lostroh and Sandy Pottinger, the exhibition first started in 2017 and is now in its fifth year.

Opening night is on Friday, May 20 at 6.30pm. The exhibition will remain open on Saturday from 10am to 2pm and Sunday 10am and 3pm.
